Biotechnology Applied to Sustainable Development

The Laboratory of Biotechnology Applied to Sustainable Development aims to contribute to scientific and technological advancement through the research and development of biotechnological solutions with triple impact. To achieve this objective, the projects focus on the conversion of renewable biological resources into products such as animal feed additives and biofertilizers. In this context, the use of renewable resources, such as agro-industrial waste, for the production of bioproducts, along with the implementation of biotechnological tools (microorganisms and enzymes) for their processing, plays an increasingly crucial role in achieving several of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
